The Orange County Figure Skating Club Open Championshipswill be held at the Yorba Linda Ice Palace, located at 23641 La Palma Avenue,Yorba Linda, Ca.
FACILITIES
The ice surface at the Yorba Linda Ice Palace is 185 feetlong and 85 feet wide with slightly rounded corners and is completely indoors.
SANCTION
The Orange County Figure Skating Club Open Championships aresanctioned by US Figure Skating. The competition will be conducted according to the current US FigureSkating Rule Book, except as herein specified.

ELIGIBILITY
Test qualifications will be effective as of May 08, 2006,the closing date for entries. Ageas of the closing date for entries May 08, 2006, shall determine eligibility incategories where age is a determining factor.
ENTRIES
Please note the similarity in test requirements for thefollowing events and make certain that the desired event is the one marked onthe entry form:

Entries of partners must be submitted together. Entries mayhave to be limited and will be accepted in the order received. Entry forms are attached and must befilled out completely and submitted to the registrar by Monday, May 08, 2006,accompanied by a check or money order. Late entries may be accepted at thediscretion of the Orange County Figure Skating Club Competition Committee. Any late entries accepted must includea $35.00 late fee.
Entry fees shall be payable to the ORANGE COUNTY FIGURESKATING CLUB. A $45.00 charge willbe made for all checks returned by the bank for any reason. If the bank returns your check, theonly method of payment accepted will be cash, cashier’s check or money order.Entry fees will be refunded only if the event is not held or there is a deathin the competitor’s immediate family.

ENTRY FEES
REGISTRATION
A registration desk will be set up one hour prior to thefirst event. All entrants arerequired to register and be ready to skate at least one hour prior to theirscheduled event.
NOTICE
An official bulletin board will be maintained at thecompetition arena and all notices posted shall be considered sufficient noticeto competitors. Please checkbulletin board for time changes. The referee may begin the competition events up to 30 minutesearly.
RULES
Two entries in a category will constitute a scheduled eventto be skated. Skaters in eventswith only one entry will be advised shortly after the close of entries andgiven the options of skating up a level, if applicable; skating an exhibitionfor full fee (short program, free skating, artistic only); or refund of theirentry fee. If a skater or pairwishes to skate an exhibition, they will have the option of being critiqued bythe judges. If requesting acritique, they should specify short program or free skating, ifapplicable. They must respond tothe registrar within 72 hours. Failing to do so, they will be deemed to have opted for a refund oftheir entry fee. Events may be combined or divided at the discretion of thereferee. The referee, along withthe chairperson, shall have the right to exclude any person whose behavior isunruly and/or un-sportsmanlike. The decisions of the referee on all matters will be final.
JUDGING
The International System ofJudging will be used for all Juvenile, Intermediate, Novice, Junior and SeniorFree Skating, Singles, Pairs and Couples Dance Events. Skaters must submit a planned programcontent sheet for all events entered that use the New Judging System. The 6.0 System will be used for allArtistic Events, Solo Dance Events, Footwork Events, Adult Events, Sugar Babiesthrough Pre-Juvenile Events.
In all events, the closed system of judging will be usedwith the number of judges on a panel to be at least three, but no more thannine. The referee in accordancewith the current US Figure Skating Rule Book will resolve items not specifiedin this announcement.
MUSIC
All competitors except dancers must provide their own musicon cassettes or CD’s only. Thecassette or CD must be clearly marked with the name, event and side to beplayed, with one program per CD or cassette tape. No CD-RW CD’s will be accepted. Cassette tapes mustbe rewound and ready to play. Music must be turned in one hour priorto the event being skated. Cassettetapes and CD’s are to be picked up promptly at the conclusion of each event atthe registration desk. Thecommittee cannot be responsible for tapes not picked up.
DURATION OF SKATING
Ten seconds over or under the specified time for freeskating and compulsory skating programs will be allowed. EXCEPTION: This does not apply to short programs or adultevents. The time specified for allshort programs and adult events is the MAXIMUM allowable time.
WARM -UP TIME
For all events below Juvenile, the warm-up time for freeskating may be limited to twice the specified length of the program with athree-minute minimum.
SCHEDULE
A schedule of events will beposted to the Orange County FSC official web site within a reasonable timeafter the close of entries. If any competitor desires a copy, please enclose astamped, self-addressed envelope along with your official entry form.
AWARDS
Trophies will be presented to first, second, third andfourth place in each division.
All Orange County Figure Skating Club members are eligiblefor the Dinger Family Artistic Award Trophy, which is judged by a specialpanel during the competition. Thewinner of this award will be announced at the end of the competition.
In all categories having perpetual trophies, the trophy willbe engraved with the winner’s name. The perpetual trophy will remain with the club and a “take home” trophywill be awarded to the winner.
PRACTICE ICE
Practice ice will be available in the morning on the day ofthe competition. Please completethe attached practice ice form and submit it to the Practice Ice Chairman bythe close of entries. For practiceice confirmation, please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
Prior to the day of competition, practice ice may be obtainedthrough the management of the Yorba Linda Ice Palace, Yorba Linda.
LIABILITY
All adult entrants 18 years of age or older, are required tosign the Assumption of Risk and Waiver of Liability form. All parents or legal guardians of minorentrants under 18 years of age are required to sign the Consent of Parent orGuardian form. These forms areprinted on the attached pages and must be completed prior to skating.
ADMISSION
There will be no admission charged. All skaters are encouraged to invitefamily and friends.

ORANGE TWISTS (Girls/Boys)

Free Skating(Two minutes 10 seconds maximum)
ADULT SILVER
Open to skaters who are 21 yearsof age or over as of May 8, 2006. One partner must have passed at least one ofthe following tests: the AdultSilver Pair test and no higher, the Adult Silver Free Skating test and nohigher, the standard Juvenile Pair test and no higher, or the standardPre-Juvenile Free Skating test and no higher. The other partner must meet the requirements for this levelor must have passed no less than one level lower (Adult Bronze Pair test, AdultBronze Free Skating test, standard Preliminary Pair test, or standardPreliminary Free Skating test). Content of the Free Skating Program shall be in accordance with theelements specified in 4122 – 4123 of the current US Figure Skating RuleBook. The 6.0 system of judgingwill be used for this event.

ADULT GOLD
Open to skaters who are 21 yearsof age or over as of May 8, 2008. One partner must have passed at least one ofthe following tests: the AdultGold Pair test and no higher, the Adult Gold Free Skating test and no higher,the standard Juvenile Pair test and no higher, or the standard Juvenile FreeSkating test and no
higher. The other partner must meet the requirements for this levelor must have passed no less than one level lower (Adult Silver Pair test, AdultSilver Free Skating test, standard Juvenile Pair test, or standard
Pre-Juvenile Free Skatingtest). Content of the Free SkatingProgram shall be in accordance with the elements specified in 4120 – 4121 ofthe current US Figure Skating Rule Book. The 6.0 system of judging will be used for this event.

ADULT MASTERS
Open to skaters who are 21 yearsof age or over as of May 8 2006. One partner must have passed at least one of the following tests: the standard Intermediate Pair test orthe standard Intermediate Free Skating test. The other partner must meet the requirements for this levelor must have passed no less than one level lower (Adult Gold Pair test, AdultGold Free Skating test, standard Juvenile Pair test, or standard Juvenile FreeSkating test). Content of the FreeSkating Program shall be in accordance with the elements specified in 4110 –4111 of the current US Figure Skating Rule Book. The 6.0 system of judging will be used for this event.
Free Skating(Three minutes 40 seconds maximum)
DANCE COUPLES EVENTS
Allcompulsory dances will be skated in the order listed except Novice. The number of sequences of eachcompulsory dance shall be as specified in 4231. Both partners of couples entering Adult Dance events must be21 years or older as of May 8, 2006. Dance test requirements for Adult Dance events refer to Standard orAdult Tests.
PRE-JUVENILE DANCE
Open to couples, each under 14years of age as of May 8, 2006. Both partners must have passed two Preliminary dances but no higher thanPre-Bronze Pre Moves in the Field test. Pre-Juvenile Dance shall consist of two Compulsory Dances. The dances to be skated will be asspecified in 4440 – 4442 and will be drawn from the following four: Dutch Waltz, Cha Cha, Rhythm Blues andCanasta Tango. The 6.0 system ofjudging will be used for this event.
JUVENILE DANCE
Open to couples, each under 16years of age as of May 8, 2006. Both partners must have passed the Juvenile Moves in the Field Test orhigher, the Preliminary Dance Test or higher, and the Juvenile Free Dance Test. Juvenile Dance shall consist of twoCompulsory Dances. The dances tobe skated will be as specified in 4430 – 4432 and will be drawn from thefollowing three: Cha Cha, HickoryHoedown and Ten-Fox. TheInternational System of Judging will be used for this event.
INTERMEDIATE DANCE
Open to couples each under 18 yearsof age as of May 8, 2006. Bothpartners must have passed the Intermediate Moves in the Field Test or higher,the Bronze Dance Test or higher, and the Intermediate Free Dance Test.
